Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)

Excessive or abnormal sweating, a condition called hyperhidrosis, can be embarrassing and frustrating, especially when it occurs at times of nervousness and stress. It is most commonly caused by overactive sweat glands, typically in the armpits, palms of the hands, soles of the feet, and on the face but can occur anywhere on the body. Leg Veins

Using laser technology, unsightly leg veins can be removed with just a few treatments and very little discomfort. Milia

Sometimes the tiniest things can be so distracting when we look in the mirror. Milia are like that — small, bump-like cysts under the skin, usually 1-2 mm in size. They form when skin flakes or keratin (a protein) become trapped under the skin and most often appear on the face, commonly around the eyelids and on the cheeks, though they can occur anywhere. Redness & Rosacea

Rosacea is a skin condition caused by the swelling and inflammation of small blood vessels near the skin, usually on the face, especially the cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin. The causes of rosacea are unclear, though some of it may be genetic, as the condition tends to appear in family members. We do know rosacea can be triggered by behaviour and environment: spicy foods, stress, sun exposure, and alcohol can trigger rosacea or make it worse. Symptoms include red, patchy skin, often with a stinging sensation. It can sometimes be mistaken for acne because it can eventually cause bumps and pimples.

Red Spots, Venous Lake, Cherry Angioma

Small red spots, also called petechiae or blood spots, occur when tiny blood vessels called capillaries burst under the skin. They are flat to the touch and can sometimes look like a rash.

Cherry angiomas are harmless red spots that appear like bubbles on the skin and contain a proliferation of blood vessels. Cherry angiomas occur as we age and can appear anywhere on the body. 

A venous lake is a soft, squashable, blue or purple macule or papule, that is 0.2–1 cm in diameter. They are harmless but can be often appear in places that make us feel self-conscious: lips, ear lobes, face, and neck. 

The exact cause of these tiny red blemishes is unknown, but there may be a genetic factor, as well as links to pregnancy, age, and certain medical conditions.

Scars

Stretch marks, acne scarring, surgical scars, and scars caused by skin trauma can leave distinct marks that can last a lifetime without intervention. While our bodies produce scars as a way to heal and protect our skin, they can also cause pain, discomfort, and itching. While the best time to treat a scar is soon after you get it (in most cases), even old scars can be improved with treatment. Sebaceous Hyperplasia

Sebaceous hyperplasia is a disorder of the sebaceous glands and is a common, benign condition in adults of middle age or older. The sebaceous glands become enlarged and form lesions that manifest as yellowish, soft, small papules on the face, particularly the nose, cheeks, and forehead. While the exact cause of sebaceous hyperplasia is not known, it appears to be associated with changes in circulating androgen hormones as a person ages.

Skin Tags

A skin tag, also called an acrochordon, pedunculated papilloma, or fibroepithelial polyp, is a small benign tumor made up of blood vessels and collagen surrounded by an outer layer of skin. They usually appear in a skin crease in areas such as the eyelid, neck, armpit, and groin and can range in size from a grain of rice to a golf ball. While skin tags are harmless and usually painless, they can be irritated by clothing or jewellery. It’s unclear exactly what causes skin tags, but since they usually show up in skin folds, friction may play a role.

Skin texture refers to our skin’s surface condition: for example, smooth and even versus rough and bumpy. Stretch Marks

Stretch marks, also called striae, are a type of scar that develops when our skin stretches or shrinks quickly. The abrupt change causes the collagen and elastin, which support our skin, to rupture. As the skin heals, stretch marks may appear. Stretch marks most commonly appear on the stomach, breasts, upper arms, thighs, and buttocks. Causes include pregnancy, puberty, and rapid weight gain.

Brown spots have many names — age spots, sunspots, liver spots, and solar lentigines — but are generally caused by the same thing: sun damage. Brown spots are concentrations of melanin in the skin and appear as small dark patches that can vary in size and usually appear in areas of the skin most exposed to the sun: face, hands, shoulders, and arms. They are very common in adults over 50 but younger people can also get them.

Toenail Fungus

Toenail fungus, also called onychomycosis, is a common condition caused by skin-loving fungi (microscopic organisms) that grow in warm, moist, dark environments. It causes a white or yellowish growth under and around the toenail and can often have a foul smell. Most cases do not require treatment and heal on their own, but sometimes the fungus can grow to damage the nail and skin. It can also make us hesitate to wear sandals or open-toed shoes. Warts

Caused by a virus called human papillomavirus or HPV, warts are small lumps on the skin that occur most commonly on the hands and feet and often in clusters. They have roughened or thicker appearance and can make us feel self-conscious. Generally, warts eventually disappear on their own but sometimes that can take years! We can eliminate the problem quickly and easily with laser.

Wrinkles

Wrinkles, also known as rhytids, are a by-product of the aging process. As we age, skin cells divide more slowly and the dermis begins to thin. The dermis — or middle layer of the skin — is composed of a network of elastin and collagen fibres, which provide support and elasticity. In some areas of the skin, the lines are tiny, while other wrinkles can become deep creases or furrows, especially noticeable around your eyes, mouth, and neck.
