Stretch Marks
Stretch marks are scars caused by our skin stretching or shrinking quickly. Although stretch marks are not harmful, they can make us feel self-conscious, even causing us to avoid events, activities, and certain types of clothing. At Nivali, we offer several scar revision solutions that greatly minimize the appearance of stretch marks - boosting confidence and comfort.
Causes of Stretch Marks
When skin expands or collapses quickly, the collagen and elastin in our skin rupture. Stretch marks are a type of scar that appears as our body attempts to heal these ruptures. For some, stretch marks appear as indented lines, while for others they may appear as pink, red, black, blue, or purple streaks. Stretch marks can occur anywhere on the body, although they are most frequently seen on the abdomen, hips, buttocks, and breasts. Some causes of stretch marks include pregnancy, growth spurts during adolescence, rapid weight gain or loss, steroid use, breast enlargement surgery, and hormones.
About Stretch Mark Treatment
Nivali offers several treatments aimed at minimizing the appearance of stretch marks. We begin any treatment with a consultation. Consultations allow us to examine your stretch mark scarring ahead of treatment and understand your unique skin profile to inform our treatment recommendations. We may recommend a single treatment or a combination of a few different scar revision treatments based on the type and depth of stretch marks, your skin type, and your overall health.
