AlumierMD Spot Clearing Lotion

What It Is: post-cleanse lotion (not a moisturizer!)

Best Suited For: acne-prone skin, red/easily irritated skin

Our “gentle giant”; this light lotion is non-irritating for those with sensitive skin, but delivers powerful results. A fantastic choice for skin that’s fighting both acne and aging, this treatment delivers Vitamin C and Arbutin to the skin to attack brown spots, uneven skin, and hyperpigmentation. Antioxidants and olive leaf extract repair damage and inflammation and boost the skin's immune system.

Technically this lotion can be applied to any skin type, but this particular formula is the most appropriate for extremely sensitive and acne-prone skin. It's been formulated specifically to alleviate redness and irritation associated with acne.

It’s one of our best-selling and most-used products for a reason. If you’ve been looking for that unicorn product that somehow tackles the frustrating combination of acne and aging, then this is the product you need to introduce your skin to.

A high concentration of L-ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), blended with Olive Leaf Extract and pure Vitamins E and A, delivers outstanding benefits to problematic skin. Vitamins A and E protect the skin from the visual effects of photo damage, helping to stave off future aging with antioxidants. Olive leaf extract keeps the skin calm, soothing already-sensitive or compromised skin and allowing healing to take place.

How To Use It: less is more! Apply 3-4 drops to the palm of the hand and use your fingertips to gently dab evenly over the face.

ZO Skin Health Instant Pore Refiner

What It Is: lightweight serum (not a moisturizer!)

Best Suited For: oily skin, large pores

An extremely lightweight serum that provides a pore minimizing effect. Typically with acne-prone skin, pores appear large as they fill with oil, sebum, and other debris - ZO’s Pore Refiner fixes that with exclusive ZO-RRS2™ and ZOX12™ complexes. This feather-light serum dramatically reduces surface oil, inhibits inflammation, and gently exfoliates the dead skin cells surrounding pores, preventing congestion and the appearance of large/filled pores.

A note on this one: not sure you need to use it over your whole face? This is a fantastic product to hit those problem areas, like around the nose.

What makes this a fantastic product for acne-prone and sensitive skin is the inclusion of bakuchiol, an extract from the seeds of the Psoralea corylifolia plant. This plant has traditionally been used in many forms of Indian Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine and skincare; bakuchiol has been shown to provide many of the same benefits as traditional retinoids, but without the peeling and (sometimes) burning that can occur for those with extremely sensitive skin.

Bakuchiol reduces redness and irritation, while simultaneously improving the appearance of aging (including fine lines & wrinkles) and actively fighting blackheads. The multi-botanical formulation also includes vegan black willow bark extract and chicory, antioxidants that provide gentle exfoliation to the skin without risk of irritation. This makes it an ideal inclusion into your daily skincare routine if you suffer from acne; this special blend will help to reduce the redness, inflammation, and irritation that can both cause and exasperate acne.

How To Use It: we recommend using this product only in the evening to begin, unless otherwise recommended by your aesthetician. As with traditional retinol, avoid the under eye area, the eyelids, and eyebrows. Follow with your PM moisturizer or night cream.

ZO Skin Health Acne Treatment Pads

What It Is: acne treatment/toner solution

Best Suited For: acne-prone skin and/or skin with active acne

One of our “holy grail” products! These pads contain the perfect blend of salicylic, mandolin, and glycolic acid to combat active acne, clear dirt and oil from the pores, and remove dead skin cells. Rosa canine fruit extract and urea help to control surface oil while keeping skin hydrated and moisturized. This product also helps to reduce surface shine throughout the day, and the texture of the pads provides light physical exfoliation.

This product acts almost as a toner and an acne treatment, fitting into a routine seamlessly.

How To Use It: gently swipe the pad over clean skin, covering the entire affected area. Don’t press hard while using this; be sure to just lightly move the pads over your face. Be sure to continue with recommended serums and/or moisturizer afterwards, and sunscreen if applying in the morning.

 

iS Clinical Active Peel System

What It Is: at-home medical-grade peel system

Best Suited For: texture and/or acne-prone skin

A relatively new product from iS Clinical, this 2-step peel system is a gentle but fast-acting exfoliation + hydration treatment. This is an easy way to improve skin tone, texture, pore size, and smoothness. Each step is is provided in a single towelette, making application quick and easy.

Peel Includes:

  • Step 1: the first step contains a blend of salicylic acid, fruit acids, and sugar cane. This mixture provides exfoliation to the skin, drying quickly and providing an instant smoothing effect. The salicylic acid also works to fight acne and prevent future breakouts.

  • Step 2: the second step provides Extremozyme® technology and Copper Tripeptide-1 to help protect and rebuild the skin’s barrier. A combination of botanicals soothe, calm, and hydrate the skin.

How To Use It: unless otherwise directed, use this product in the evening only. After cleansing, gently swipe the step 1 towelette over the entire face and neck. Wait for 3 minutes before applying step 2 in the same manner. Do not rinse. Apply any additional serums and PM moisturizer as recommended by your aesthetician.
